An all-Ukrainian strategic dialogue titled “Vocational Secondary Education: From Understanding the Model to Its Implementation” took place in Lviv.
A team from Donetsk Oblast participated in the event, represented by specialists from the Department of Education and Science of the Donetsk Oblast State Administration, the Donetsk Oblast Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education, and the Educational and Methodological Center for Vocational and Technical Education in Donetsk Oblast.
The event brought together representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry’s Recovery and Reform Support Team, regional education authorities, educational institutions, researchers, instructional specialists, and experts involved in implementing the reform of specialized upper-secondary schools.
Participants discussed the model of specialized secondary education with a vocational focus, the practical aspects of its implementation, the organization of the educational process, methodological support, the training of teaching staff, and the administrative decisions necessary to implement the reform in the regions.
Special attention was given to the experience of piloting specialized secondary education in the Dnipropetrovsk, Chernivtsi, and Kharkiv regions. Regional representatives shared the results of implementing model curricula, practical best practices, and solutions for overcoming challenges.
For the Donetsk region, participation in the strategic dialogue marked an important step in preparing for the implementation of vocational secondary education as part of the senior vocational school reform. The insights gained during the event will be used to further develop modern educational pathways for students and adapt the new model to the region’s conditions.
The strategic dialogue was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in collaboration with the Ministry’s Recovery and Reform Support Team (RST), the non-governmental organization “Projector Foundation,” and the “Multi-Year Sustainability Program for Ukraine,” with financial support from the “Education Cannot Wait” Fund.
