Recently in Kramatorsk, a Russian airstrike claimed the life of a man whom emergency responders had rescued from the rubble of his own private home.
As they continued to clear the debris, the rescuers heard and found another resident of the house—a frightened cat.
The animal was carefully retrieved and handed over to the relatives of the deceased. It survived, even though its home had been reduced to ruins.
For rescuers, there are no “small” rescues. Every life matters—both human lives and the life of an animal that has also fallen victim to the war.
