Military medics play a key role in Ukraine’s defense system, saving lives and providing medical treatment and rehabilitation for service members and civilians in combat conditions.

In 2023, the Order of St. Panteleimon was awarded to a representative of the Donetsk region—Vladimir Vyhovsky, commander of the 59th Military Mobile Hospital. He was named the winner in the category “For selfless service to the Ukrainian people, courage, and resilience in the fight for the health of Ukrainians, for the freedom and independence of Ukraine in the war against the Russian aggressor.”

Volodymyr Vyhovskyi has extensive experience serving in combat zones. In particular, from 2014 to 2017, he served in the 79th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade, where he held the positions of resident physician and later commander of the medical company. He carried out missions in the areas of Avdiivka, Pisky, Mariupol, and other strategically important locations.

In 2020–2021, he headed the brigade’s medical service, providing care to the wounded in the Luhansk sector, particularly in Shchastia and Stanytsia Luhanska.

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, Volodymyr Vyhovskyi has organized the operations of a stabilization center in Sievierodonetsk, where medical care was provided to both military personnel and civilians amid constant shelling.

During the first year of full-scale war, under his leadership, more than 3,400 military personnel and 233 civilians received assistance at stabilization points in Lyman, Sloviansk, and other settlements.

His receipt of the Order of St. Panteleimon in 2023 was a fitting recognition of his dedication. As commander of the 59th Mobile Hospital, he continues to hold the medical front in the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions, organizing a complex system of evacuation and specialized care.

Currently, as head of the 59th Military Mobile Hospital, he continues to ensure the organization of medical care and the evacuation of the wounded in the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

It is important to remember and share such stories. Volodymyr Vyhovskyi is an example of how one person, through willpower and knowledge, can build a system that saves thousands.
