Sometimes a new life begins with a difficult step — but it is precisely that step that opens up opportunities one had never even imagined.
Ms. Olha, a displaced person from resilient Tokmak, knows well what it means to lose the stability she once had. In her hometown, she ran her own business and had experience working as an administrator. It seemed everything was well established. But the war forced her to start from scratch — this time in Lviv, among new people and in complete uncertainty.
In her search for a job, she turned to the employment service. Specialists provided individualized support, helped her prepare for interviews, improve her skills, and regain confidence.
She took part in various activities, worked on her communication skills, and also completed training under the program “Strategies for Recovery from Professional Burnout” at one of the vocational training centers of the State Employment Service. This gave her far more than just a new line on her resume — it provided inner strength and a clear understanding of where to move next.
And the result soon followed.
Thanks to the cooperation between the employer, the municipal enterprise “M.EHAB” of Mariupol City Council, and the employment service, Ms. Olha secured a job at the “YaMariupol.Lviv” center — a place that supports internally displaced persons every day.
This story is not only about employment. It is about the opportunities currently available to internally displaced persons:
— personalized job matching that takes into account experience and life circumstances
— free training and programs to restore professional resilience
— support during adaptation in a new place
— compensation for employers who hire IDPs, increasing the chances of finding a job
Thanks to these tools, the employment service helps people not just find a job, but regain a sense of stability and control over their lives.
Today, Ms. Olha is working and supporting those who are still searching for their new point of stability. By her own example, she proves that even after loss, it is possible to build a new and stronger story.
Opportunities exist — and they are closer than they seem.
