The Donetsk Regional Museum of Local History in Dnipro, in partnership with the «MiRazom» Support Centre for Internally Displaced Persons in the Kramatorsk district, held an educational event featuring creative activities entitled «Wings of Memory» for displaced children from Donetsk region.
The event was dedicated to honouring the memory of children who died as a result of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine. In a gentle conversation, the organisers spoke with the participants about the value of life, the importance of peace, support and humanity, using language that was simple and easy for the children to understand.
The practical part began with creative self-expression. The children painted wooden angel figurines, imbuing them with their own emotions and feelings. For some, it was an opportunity to calm down; for others, to reflect on what they had heard; and for others still, simply to be in a safe environment alongside others.
Afterwards, the participants took part in a symbolic act of remembrance: they made paper angels and placed them on the «tree of remembrance». This simple gesture became a quiet yet eloquent way of paying tribute to the innocent children who lost their lives.
The event combined educational and creative elements, giving children the opportunity to express their own emotions and take part in a collective act of remembrance. Such initiatives help foster empathy, mutual support and inner resilience.
