A bibliographic essay marking the 90th anniversary of Lyudmila Ogneva’s birth was presented in Donetsk Oblast

Published 12 April 2026 year, 08:01

This April marks the 90th anniversary of the birth of the talented scholar, educator, master of artistic embroidery, organizer and leader of folk and decorative art clubs, member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine and the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine, educator, author and editor of over 45 books, and public figure Lyudmila Ogneva.

Specialists from the Information and Bibliographic Department of the Donetsk Regional Library for Children, with the support of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, have prepared an informational and bibliographic essay titled “Guardian of the Ukrainian Donetsk Region” (https://www.bibliokids-mrpl.com.ua/images/2026/berehynnia.pdf), which presents materials on the life and work of this extraordinary individual.

Lyudmila Radionovna’s research interests spanned many topics, including prominent figures in Ukrainian history, the lives and works of the Shistdesiatnyky (the 1960s generation), dissidents, Ukrainian embroidery, and the artistic legacy of monumentalist painters, among others. Lyudmila Ogneva introduced the Ukrainian Donetsk region to herself and all those who care, bringing back from oblivion the names of the region’s prominent figures who were silenced by the communist regime, including dissidents Oleksa Tykhyi, Vasyl Makukh, and Alla Horska.

This publication is intended for librarians, local historians, educators, students, and anyone interested in the history and culture of their native region.
