On April 11, 2026, the next stage of the regional review-competition for art school students “Bakhmut Spring” took place at the Ivan Karabits Bakhmut Professional College of Culture and Arts.
The competition program covered two key categories: “Solfeggio and Music Theory” and “Music Literature.”
Fourteen students from art schools in the Donetsk region participated in the first category. The contestants demonstrated a high level of proficiency in solfeggio, rhythmic improvisation, musical text analysis, and creative tasks. The comprehensive nature of the tests demonstrated not only the participants’ academic and professional training but also their high level of motivation to study theoretical disciplines.
In the second category, 9 participants presented video presentations to the jury dedicated to the biography and creative legacy of the outstanding Ukrainian composer Viktor Kosenko, whose 130th birthday is being celebrated this year. The submitted works were distinguished by their scientific and methodological soundness, the originality of the authors’ approach, and a high artistic and aesthetic level of execution.
Based on the results of this stage, the organizing committee noted the students’ high level of professional training and the significant contribution of teachers to the popularization of Ukrainian classical music.
