Within the framework of the national project "Side by Side: Cohesive Communities", the Lyman City Community, in cooperation with the Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi community of Cherkasy region, joined a charity event in support of the Defenders of Ukraine on the central square of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi on the occasion of the City Day.
Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi is a city with a long history, a twin community that provides invaluable support to the Lyman community during the war, providing important humanitarian aid, assisting with evacuation, facilitating the reception of refugees and sharing experience in reforming and optimizing the fields of culture, education, medicine, etc., promoting economic development, which is important for the long-term recovery of the Lyman community and the whole of Ukraine in the post-war period of reconstruction.
The participation of the Lyman community in the cultural and artistic event of the partner community is very symbolic. It was on the second Saturday of September that the Day of the City of Lyman was celebrated at a high level every year before the full-scale invasion on the territory of the Lyman community.
The community of Lyman was represented by talented craftswomen who presented works of decorative and applied arts demonstrating embroidery skills, traditional patterns and needlework techniques, with an emphasis on Ukrainian embroidery as a symbol of cultural heritage inherent in the Donetsk region, which allowed visitors to get acquainted with the richness of the hospitable and open Lyman region.
Cultural heritage is our support in times of trial. We must preserve it for future generations, despite all the difficulties of wartime.
The importance of active community work to preserve and promote local cultural heritage is a very important area of work on the cultural front.
Together, we are preserving the cultural memory of our region, because it is this memory that forms the strength, resilience and dignity of Donetsk region.
