St. Nicholas Day is a special kind of magic that can bring us all together, regardless of age. It is on this day that we remember kindness, faith and hope — the values that sustain us even in the most difficult times.
Every year since 2020, the Donetsk Regional State Administration and the Regional Military Administration have been organising a series of New Year and Christmas events called the ‘Marathon of Good Deeds’. This year, the Marathon will cover the cities of Dnipro, Kyiv and the Zakarpattia region and will run from 6 to 28 December 2025.
On 6 December, the Marathon successfully started in Uzhhorod. The Transcarpathian Regional Centre for Children's and Youth Creativity ‘PADIYUN’ hosted a touching performance of ‘St. Nicholas' Postmen’, prepared by the Donetsk Academic Regional Drama Theatre (Mariupol). The warm atmosphere and sincere emotions gave the children a feeling of a real holiday, filled with light and hope.
All the territorial communities of Donetsk region that have relocated to different regions of Ukraine joined our campaign. New Year's events have also begun in the city of Dnipro at 24 cultural and educational hubs, where interactive activities, festive programmes and sweet gifts have been prepared for children.
Together, we create an atmosphere of fairy tales, belief in St. Nicholas and New Year's miracles for children. It is at these moments that they feel unity with their families, the power of Ukrainian tradition, faith in victory, and that they are loved, supported, and always held close to our hearts.
We thank everyone who rallied around this idea and helped give children a little New Year's miracle!
