An exhibition titled “The Pysanka That Unites” was officially opened at the Ethnographic Museum in Serbia. The project was organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in collaboration with the “Democracy Through Culture” Development Center, with the participation of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, the Odesa Regional Center for Ukrainian Culture, the Vyshhorod Historical and Cultural Reserve, and the Mariupol Local History Museum.
A prominent place in the exhibition is occupied by the unique pysanky of the “Ikanicha” Greeks from the Dazov region—a collection destroyed by Russian aggression in Mariupol in 2022 but recreated by master artisan Zoya Stashuk using the museum’s digital copies.
Representatives of Serbian government agencies, diplomatic missions of foreign states, as well as national and international cultural institutions attended the exhibition opening.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Serbia Oleksandr Lytvynenko noted that the pysanka is one of the most recognizable symbols of Ukrainian identity, dating back to ancient times, and that this exhibition will serve as yet another window into the world of Ukrainian culture.
