The Donetsk Academic Regional Drama Theatre (Mariupol) has embarked on a historic tour of European cities. This project is of great importance for cultural diplomacy, as it aims to be the voice of truth about Russia's crimes against Ukraine, to counter the enemy's information manipulation and to strengthen the international community's solidarity with Ukraine's struggle.
The play «Mariupol Drama» is a requiem, a protest and a hope all at once. It will be performed:
- 22 October 2025 — in The Hague (Netherlands),
- 27 October — in Berlin (Germany),
- 29 October — in Prague (Czech Republic),
- 31 October — in Krakow (Poland),
- 2 November — in Warsaw (Poland).
This performance is the voice of those who have not broken, who strive for peace, freedom and rebirth.
Borders are opening up for the theatre not only geographically, but also spiritually — so that the world can hear the truth about our history, about the pain and resilience of the Ukrainian people.
The actors of Mariupol Drama Theatre carry within themselves not only the tragedy of Mariupol, but also the tragedy of the whole of Ukraine, where every heart aches for their native land.
While one part of the troupe fulfils its cultural mission abroad, the other goes on a tour of Ukraine. The cities of Lutsk, Ternopil and Khmelnytskyi will welcome the play Night in Lisbon — a staging of Erich Maria Remarque's immortal novel directed by People's Artist of Ukraine Yuriy Odynokyi.
For the actors, each performance is not just a play, but a cry from the soul, a common voice that echoes throughout the world. Each appearance on stage is a step towards victory, towards justice, towards restoration. Unity is a living force that makes us invincible, unites us in the struggle for truth, for freedom, for the future of Ukraine.
