On October 16, the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine in Kyiv hosted a final event dedicated to honoring the memory of the outstanding Ukrainian artist Arkhip Kuindzhi, which brought together representatives of government agencies, the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, cultural and educational institutions, civil society, leading artists, and painters. Representatives of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Donetsk Regional State Administration also took part in the event.

This year, the Memorial is being held for the first time outside his native Mariupol, a city that is currently temporarily occupied, to remind Ukraine and the world that Arkhip Kuindzhi was a world-class Ukrainian artist born in Mariupol.

The main message is to eliminate the imperial narratives of the aggressor country, which is trying to appropriate Ukraine's cultural heritage, reattribute works of art, and draw public attention to the issue of recording destroyed and returning stolen museum valuables from the temporarily occupied territories to Ukraine.

In addition, the event featured an exhibition of children's plein air works for a competition for young artists, which was traditionally held within the framework of the Memorial.
