On August 8, an online meeting was held to coordinate the provision of assistance to households in the frontline areas for the sustainable passage of the winter period of 2025-2026. The event was chaired by Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk.

The event was attended by Deputy Head of Donetsk Oblast State Administration Oleksandr Shevchenko and heads of relevant structural units of the Oblast State Administration.

The discussion focused on the main criteria for the mechanism of providing financial assistance to households living in the frontline areas.

It is envisaged that financial assistance in the amount of UAH 19,400 per household for the entire heating season will be provided by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and other humanitarian organizations.

✔Financial assistance for heating will be provided to recipients who:

  • Reside in territorial communities within a 10-kilometer zone from the state border with Russia or the contact line;
  • reside in territorial communities in the rest of the frontline regions, provided they meet the criteria set by international partners.

The participants also discussed the stages of forming the lists of recipients, the procedure for payments and the transfer of information to the Pension Fund of Ukraine for further verification. Particular attention was paid to coordinating actions on the ground and interacting with international partners to ensure that residents of frontline communities receive the necessary support in a timely manner.

Providing timely heating assistance is a key factor in supporting residents of the frontline areas. This will allow them to keep their homes warm and safe during the difficult winter period and improve their quality of life in difficult conditions.
