A photo exhibition-installation "Chasiv Yar. The Firebrands" of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo of the Land Forces.

The photo exhibition about the year of defense of Chasiv Yar by the Royal Brigade soldiers will run from August 8 to 10 at Kontraktova Square, near the Ferris wheel. The author of the exhibition is Oleh Petrasyuk, a press officer of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo, a documentary photographer.

The exhibition features a Humvee armored vehicle brought from Chasovyi Yar, as well as artifacts of war - parts of Russian bombs, drones of various types that the occupiers used to fire at our soldiers and the rear cities of Donetsk region.

With the help of a special simulator, every visitor of the exhibition can try himself as an FPV drone operator.

The exhibition is housed on the remains of fences that stood in the battlefields of Donetsk region. This symbolizes that the home front is not separated from the war by walls and distances, but only by the people depicted in the photographs. The installation consists of 54 photographs accompanied by a poem by Serhiy Zhadan set to the sounds of war in Chasovyi Yar. These are 54 moments that symbolize their 54 weeks of defense.

Russia planned to capture Chasiv Yar by May 9, 2024, and deployed significant forces of its most combat-ready units. The enemy wanted to use the town as a springboard for a further offensive to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk Oblast.

However, thanks to the military skill, resilience, courage and ingenuity of Ukrainian soldiers, the enemy failed to capture the small eastern city. Now, despite various reports, Ukrainian soldiers continue to hold their positions heroically. The battle for Chasiv Yar continues.
