Young people from Bakhmut and Goscha have joined forces to strengthen mental resilience

Published 16 December 2025 year, 17:20

At a time when Ukrainian communities are sticking together, young people from Bakhmut and Hoshcha got together online to talk about a tough but super important topic—psychological abuse.

This meeting was initiated by the Bakhmut City Council's Department of Youth Policy and Children's Affairs as part of the national project "Side by Side: United Communities."

The online event brought together young people from two communities that demonstrate close cooperation and mutual support: students from the Bakhmut community and pupils from the Hoshcha community — representatives of local youth who study at the Bakhmut Center for Vocational and Technical Education, which found refuge and operates in Hoshcha.

The main topic of the meeting was "Psychological violence: how to spot it in time."

Speaker Kateryna Zhurbyluk, a practical psychologist and coordinator of the Psychological Resilience Center at the Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages, conducted the meeting in the format of a frank and confidential conversation.

The goal of the webinar was clear and practical: to teach young people how to build strong psychological defenses and know how to respond appropriately so as not to become victims of manipulation or pressure. Participants received specific tools to increase their inner resilience.

To win and rebuild the country, you need to be strong not only physically, but above all psychologically. Such meetings are a direct and important investment in our resilience, mental health, and the future of our communities.
