Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University invites high school and college students to participate in the 2nd Vasyl Stus Open Regional Language and Literature Creative Competition for High School and College Students, “Echoes of the Poet’s Words.”
The purpose of the contest is to honor the creative legacy of Vasyl Semenovych Stus, Hero of Ukraine, laureate of the T.G. Shevchenko State Prize, and an outstanding poet and citizen; to identify creatively gifted youth, foster an active civic stance among the younger generation, and instill a love for the Ukrainian language and respect for the traditions of their own people, who are defending their independence in the face of Russian aggression.
The contest brings together two regions that played a decisive role in the life and development of Vasyl Stus: Donetsk Oblast—the region of his school and college years—and Vinnytsia Oblast—the land of the poet’s family and spiritual roots. Holding this contest is of great importance for fostering spiritual unity among Ukraine’s remote regions.
