As part of the “Side by Side: United Communities” project, young people from the Druzhkivka and Zhmerynka communities took part in the essay contest “The Native Language Is Like a Viburnum Bush.” Participants shared their thoughts on the topic “Language Is a Border: Why Words Become Weapons During War.” In their essays, they reflected on the meaning of their native language, its power, and its role in times of trial.

Sofia Hrytsaienko, a 9th-grade student at Gymnasium No. 9 in the Druzhkivka community, won second place in the competition. For her creative work, the participant received a certificate and a gift.

We express our gratitude to the school’s principal, Marina Kramarenko, for her support and for fostering the student’s creative potential. We sincerely congratulate Sofia on her new achievement and wish her inspiration and further creative successes!
