Participant of the regional contest "Young Person of the Year – 2025" in the nomination "Law Enforcement Defender" Dmytro Tunda

Dmytro Tunda is a young police officer who helps people in the Donetsk region every day. His journey toward his dream began in his school years. In 2019, he graduated from Pokrovsk Secondary School №9, and by 2024, he had earned a higher education degree in "Law Enforcement" from the International Humanitarian University. His character was forged by his active participation in the "Jura" military-patriotic competitions, where he emerged as a winner.

In 2023, Dmytro joined the ranks of the National Police of Ukraine to protect the rights, freedoms, and safety of citizens. He took part in delivering humanitarian aid and clearing debris from buildings destroyed by shelling. In 2024, risking his own life, he provided emergency medical assistance to victims of shelling in Pokrovsk. For his faithful and dedicated service, Dmytro was awarded the "For the Defense of Ukraine" distinction by the President of Ukraine.

Colleagues and acquaintances know Dmytro as an extremely responsible, persistent, and brave person. He is always ready to help and never turns away those in need. His childhood dream of becoming a police officer and helping people has come true. In his years of service, he has never once regretted his choice.

Currently, Dmytro holds the position of a patrol police response officer in the Pokrovsk District Police Department of the National Police in the Donetsk region. In early September 2024, he and his colleagues patrolled Pokrovsk in an armored vehicle. Dmytro recalls one such incident:

"One time in the fall, a call came in on the 102 emergency line in Pokrovsk. The caller reported that the Pivdennyi microdistrict had just been shelled and there were wounded. We quickly made the decision to go as fast as possible, because we knew people needed our help. Upon arriving at the scene, we found three people with injuries. While we were giving them first aid with the police paramedics, the area was shelled again. Without losing our composure, we quickly moved all the injured to a safe place and evacuated them. Fortunately, we managed to save them and stay alive ourselves."

Every day, Dmytro and his colleagues carefully plan safe routes for patrolling and evacuating victims. For him, the scariest thing about his job is not being able to get there in time to help. Dmytro Tunda is confident in our victory and brings it closer with his actions every day.
