Participant of the Regional Competition "Young Person of the Year – 2025" in the Nomination "Rescuer of the Year" Mariia Skorobohata
My name is Mariia Skorobohata, and I have been a volunteer with the Myrnohrad City Organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society since March 2024. From the very beginning of my volunteer work, I joined the Rapid Response Team and started with first aid training.
At that time, the situation in the region was already tense—rocket attacks began on the city of Myrnohrad and nearby settlements. It was then that I had my first mission to an emergency situation. It was a difficult and alarming moment—a terrifying atmosphere, destroyed buildings, and casualties. However, the team's support and a sense of unity helped me cope with the fear and focus on the main task: helping people.
In early August, our team was forced to evacuate from Myrnohrad to the Dnipropetrovsk region due to the worsening security situation. Despite this, we did not stop our activities. We continue to evacuate civilians from frontline territories of the Donetsk region, saving people every day and helping them reach safe places.
For me, volunteering is not just about help; it is a choice to be there for those who need support during the darkest moments of their lives.
