Participant in the regional competition “Young Person of the Year – 2026” “Leaders of Knowledge” category: Dmytro Garkavenko
Dmytro Garkavenko works as a physical education and “Defense of Ukraine” teacher at Kurakhiv Secondary School No. 5. In his teaching, he focuses on the practical application of knowledge and moving away from outdated teaching standards, adapting the learning process to the conditions of distance learning.
In physical education classes, Dmytro introduces new active games and specialized modules, particularly in volleyball, teaching students self-assessment and tactical thinking. As part of the “Defense of Ukraine” course, he emphasizes the development of practical skills necessary in emergency situations.
In addition to teaching, Dmytro serves as the leader of the Oleksii Selikhov Scout Troop within the All-Ukrainian Children’s and Youth Military-Patriotic Game “Sokil” (“Dzhura”). Under his leadership, the troop won prizes in the “Vidun,” “Camping,” and “Drill” competitions at the city level.
The teacher also participates in regional sports competitions. As part of the Pokrovsk District team, he took second place in a park volleyball tournament.
