Due to the hostilities in the Donetsk region, many schoolchildren have had to leave their homes, yet they continue to stay connected with their home communities. Among them is Dmytro Masyuk, a student at the Hryshyn Secondary School (Grades 1–3), who, despite the distance, actively participates in the life of his school. Despite being forced to relocate due to the hostilities in the Donetsk region, Dmytro decided to continue his studies at his school. While studying remotely, he actively participates in the school’s academic and creative life, representing it at national and regional competitions.

Throughout 2026, he participated in the military-patriotic game “Dzhura” and the patriotic campaigns “I Grow—My Vyshyvanka Grows” and “Unbreakable in a Headscarf.” Dmytro is also a regular participant in language and literature competitions dedicated to the works of Taras Shevchenko, as well as in the intellectual competitions “The Universe of Knowledge: Spring 2026” and “Open Horizons.” In addition, he has presented his own work in creative and artistic projects.

Research is another area of his focus. Dmytro participated in a school project studying the language of Ukrainian classics, developing a questionnaire and analyzing literary texts. He also represented his school at the regional forum “Education, Government, Business: Synergy for the Future.”

Dmytro’s example shows that dedication to one’s school and community is measured by concrete actions, not by distance.
