Heorhii Tunik, a participant in the regional “Young Person of the Year – 2026” competition in the “Knowledge Leaders” category
Heorhii Tunik is a native of Myrnohrad, a Master of Sport of Ukraine in powerlifting, an absolute Ukrainian champion, a World Championship medalist and a European champion. He took up the sport at the age of 15, and since then powerlifting has become an integral part of his life.
Today, the athlete has more than 60 medals and awards to his name. Among his most significant achievements are a bronze medal at the World Championships in May 2025 and gold at the European Junior Championships in September of the same year. Each of these achievements is the result of hard work, discipline and a constant commitment to self-improvement.
At the same time, Heorhii is not focused solely on his own sporting achievements. He works as a powerlifting coach and instructor at the Children and Youth Sports School of the Myrnohrad City Council, where he trains 21 young athletes. For him, the main task of a coach is not only to prepare athletes for competitions, but also to help them become confident, responsible and strong individuals.
Heorhii is also a second-category judge, takes part in professional seminars and continuously develops his skills. His students are already achieving strong results at regional and national competitions.
His story is about strength that is measured not only by sporting achievements, but also by the willingness to share experience and help the next generation of Ukrainian athletes reach new heights.
