Mariia Strieliets, a participant in the regional “Young Person of the Year – 2026” competition in the “Knowledge Leaders” category
Mariia Strieliets is a promising Ukrainian track and field athlete and a Master of Sport of Ukraine who has devoted more than ten years to athletics. Guided by her father and coach, Serhii Strieliets, she has progressed from youth competitions to the national and international level.
Mariia specializes in discus throw. She has repeatedly won and placed at Ukrainian Championships, and her strong results earned her a place in the candidate pool of the Ukrainian national athletics team. Among her major achievements are a silver medal at the European Throwing Cup in the team competition and podium finishes at Ukrainian Championships among senior athletes.
Mariia has represented Ukraine at European Championships, and in 2026 she continued to demonstrate a high level of performance. She won gold at the Ukrainian Winter Championships among young athletes, took first place at the third stage of the Ukrainian Athletics Cup among senior athletes, and won silver among young athletes and bronze among seniors at the Ukrainian Championships.
From September 2026, Mariia is expected to join the main Ukrainian national athletics team.
New competitions, higher professional education and further sporting challenges lie ahead. Through her achievements, Mariia proudly represents Donetsk Region and Ukraine at national and international competitions.
