Radion Vatsiuk is a Captain of the Civil Protection Service and a State Emergency Service rescue unit commander who has been carrying out life-saving missions in the Donetsk region since the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Born and raised in Donetsk region, he consciously chose the profession of a rescuer, dedicating his life to protecting people and serving Ukraine. After graduating from the National University of Civil Protection of Ukraine in Kharkiv, he returned to his home region, where his professionalism was soon tested by the realities of war.

Leading his rescue team, Radion responds to missile strikes, extinguishes large-scale fires, and conducts emergency rescue operations under constant threat of renewed attacks. One of the most challenging missions was the rescue operation following the missile strike on the Ria Pizza restaurant in Kramatorsk. Thanks to his courage, professionalism, and coordinated leadership, lives were successfully saved from beneath the destroyed structures.

For his bravery and dedicated service, Radion Vatsiuk has been awarded the Ministry of Internal Affairs badge “For Bravery in Service,” promoted early to the rank of Captain of the Civil Protection Service, and in 2026 received the Presidential Award of Ukraine “For the Defense of Ukraine.” His story is a powerful example of courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment, demonstrating how the young generation of Ukrainian rescuers continues to protect lives and strengthen the nation even in the most challenging circumstances.
