In 2023, Vladislav Barinov graduated from Donetsk National Medical University and began his residency in neurology at the Dobropillia Intensive Care Hospital. Throughout 2024, due to staff shortages and hostilities, he remained the sole neurologist at the 60-bed hospital.

In July 2025, Vladislav became head of the internal medicine department; however, due to intensified shelling, the hospital was evacuated, and shortly thereafter, its building was destroyed by an airstrike. The doctor moved to the Mykolaiv region but soon joined the reestablished Donetsk Regional Clinical Traumatology Hospital.

He was tasked with establishing a stroke unit from scratch. Guided by the international standards of the European Stroke Organization and the expertise of the Ukrainian Society of Stroke Medicine, Vladislav combined his managerial duties with night shifts. Later, through a voucher program for internally displaced persons (IDPs), he mastered functional diagnostics. Thanks to equipment purchased by the hospital, the facility began performing electroneuromyography for neurological, trauma, and neurosurgical patients.

Currently, Vladislav Barinov heads the stroke unit and sees patients. In just under seven months of 2026, the department treated nearly 570 patients with acute stroke and performed approximately 120 systemic thrombolytic therapies, more than half of which the doctor performed personally.
