On April 10, a presentation on the activities of the Donetsk Regional Youth Council under the Donetsk Regional State Administration and best practices of youth councils in the region took place in Dnipro at the Office for the Recovery and Development of the Donetsk Region.

The event brought together leaders of youth self-government, representatives of local communities, and regional officials to discuss the results of their work and plan future initiatives in the context of wartime conditions.

The participants were greeted by Oleksandr Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration. Addressing the youth, he emphasized that the activity of the civil society sector is key evidence that Donetsk Oblast has a future. He stressed that the authorities and young people are working as a single team, and that real results depend not on reports, but on people who are ready to take on responsibility.

The event began with a comprehensive presentation of the Regional Youth Council’s activities, summarizing its term. Participants watched an emotional video highlighting the most memorable moments of their work, demonstrating the significant contribution of young people to the region’s development even amid the challenging conditions of war.

Special attention was given to the “best practices” session, during which representatives from nine local communities shared their experiences in implementing projects. The communities presented concrete results—ranging from the implementation of social initiatives to effective engagement with residents.

Oleksandr Shevchenko highly praised the activities of youth councils, noting that they have become an effective tool for development, where young people not only react but also independently shape decisions. He recognized active leaders for their contribution to the development of youth policy in the region and presented them with Certificates of Appreciation from the Donetsk Regional State Administration.

The event marked an important step toward the further development of youth self-governance in the Donetsk region. The practices presented demonstrated that even under challenging conditions, young people are capable of generating effective solutions, uniting communities, and driving positive change.
