Dreams come true: holiday gifts for children from foster families in Donetsk region

Published 08 January 2026 year, 09:27

A series of events aimed at supporting children in need of special attention is underway in Donetsk Oblast. Caring for children raised in family settings is one of the priorities of our region's social policy.

This time, holiday packages, prepared with the individual needs of each child in mind, were delivered to the Shapoval foster family and the Divnych family-type children's home.

The long-awaited gifts were presented to the children by Alexander Shevchenko, deputy head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration.

This initiative was made possible thanks to close cooperation between regional authorities and international partners. The gifts were provided by the Caritas of the Czech Republic Ostrava Opava charitable foundation with the active support of the Caritas Mariupol charitable foundation.

"Today we see smiles on the faces of children, and this is the least we can do for those who are growing up in difficult conditions. It is our duty to be a support for them and give them faith in miracles," emphasized Oleksandr Shevchenko.

This event is part of a large-scale charity marathon. Recently, a similar event was held for children of fallen heroes of Donetsk region and those whose parents are in captivity. Thanks to the cooperation between the Regional State Administration's Department of Veterans Affairs and the Caritas Kolomyia Charitable Foundation, more than 30 children received Christmas gifts.

Such initiatives have already become a good tradition. They unite the authorities and philanthropists around a common goal — to protect every child.

The Donetsk Regional State Administration continues to look for opportunities to help so that, despite the war, every child can feel the warmth of the holidays and support.
