Museum professionals in the Donetsk region are to hold a round-table discussion to mark Ukrainian Statehood Day

Published 17 June 2026 year, 14:50

The Donetsk Regional Museum of Local History invites museum staff, local historians, cultural workers, academics, lecturers, students, community leaders and all interested parties to take part in the all-Ukrainian academic and educational round table ‘The Ukrainian State: People, Ideas, Actions’, dedicated to Ukrainian Statehood Day.

The event will take place on 14 July at 10:00 online via Google Meet.

The event aims to deepen understanding of the key stages of Ukrainian state-building, as well as to shed light on little-known aspects of the thousand-year struggle for Ukrainian statehood.

Topics for the round table:

1. Ideas of Ukrainian state-building in historical retrospect.

2. Alternative concepts of state-building during the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921: from M. Hrushevsky to S. Petliura.

3. Outstanding figures in Ukraine’s struggle for statehood.

4. In defence of Ukrainian statehood: from the era of the Hetmanate to the War of Independence of Ukraine.

The event is intended to be a significant step towards deepening understanding of the role of prominent figures in the formation of Ukrainian statehood and raising awareness of their contributions amongst the general public; it is also an important occasion for the exchange of knowledge, experience and new ideas in the field of Ukrainian history and culture.

To take part in the round table, please register via the link (by 16:00 on 13 July): https://forms.gle/Eh7NoyxEit1soA6L7

The form is the same for both speakers and attendees. Those wishing to give a presentation are asked to indicate their chosen area of focus. A link to the event will be sent to registered participants. The organisers reserve the right to finalise the round-table programme based on the applications received.
