The Donetsk Regional Museum of Local History invites scientists, museum workers, educators, local historians, and representatives of the public to participate in a roundtable discussion entitled “Little-known pages of Donetsk region history: a local history perspective,” which will take place on July 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in an online format.
The event is intended to serve as a platform for discussing local history, little-known events and figures of Donetsk region, local history practices, and the role of culture and education in shaping historical memory. Participants will share their research, museum developments, and experience in preserving and promoting historical heritage in wartime conditions.
Areas of focus:
- Outstanding figures in education, culture, and art in Donetsk Oblast and their historical heritage.
- Historical and local history work: past experience and current challenges.
- Decolonization and decommunization of the region: getting rid of the legacy of the past.
- Religious denominations in Donetsk region: history and modernity.
- Manipulation of the history of Donetsk region: Russian narratives and historical truth.
The event will include an open discussion with the opportunity to exchange experiences and opinions.
