On October 5, a regular online meeting of the Coordination Headquarters on the Implementation of Veterans’ Policy and the Establishment of the Corresponding Regional Infrastructure took place. The event was chaired by Ruslan Prykhodko, Deputy Minister for European Integration and Deputy Head of the Coordination Headquarters.
Participants included the Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, as well as representatives of the structural units of the Donetsk Regional State Administration and district state administrations.
The meeting focused on coordinating efforts and ensuring proper reporting on the implementation of measures in the field of veterans’ policy. Separately, participants discussed the further development of the support system for male and female veterans, in particular the creation of the necessary conditions for their return to civilian life and social adaptation.
An important item on the agenda was the development of sports for war veterans. The discussion centered on opportunities to more actively involve veterans in sports events as an effective means of rehabilitation, social adaptation, promoting physical activity, and reintegration into active public life.
The meeting also addressed the preservation of the memory of Ukraine’s fallen defenders. In particular, they discussed the creation of a digital map titled “Places of Remembrance,” populating it with information about significant memorial sites, as well as unified approaches to memorialization and the installation of memorial plaques.
During the meeting, participants discussed current issues and identified future areas of focus to strengthen veteran policies and develop the relevant regional infrastructure.
Supporting veterans and their families is a critical area of work that requires constant attention, coordinated action, and the creation of appropriate conditions for veterans’ transition back to civilian life.
