A working meeting on ensuring the rights and freedoms of internally displaced persons was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk.

The event was attended by Deputy Head of Donetsk Regional State Administration Oleksandr Shevchenko, Head of the Council for Internally Displaced Persons at Donetsk Regional State Administration, as well as heads of structural units of the Regional State Administration.

The meeting addressed a number of important issues related to the implementation of the state policy in the field of social protection of IDPs. In particular, they discussed the fulfillment of the requirements for identifying recipients of social benefits within the framework of the Social Community project, informing citizens about the identification procedure and ensuring access to public services.

Particular attention was paid to the possibility of compensating for the utility costs of transit centers (places of temporary stay) and determining the mechanism for their financing at public expense. The issue of providing social services and state guarantees to residents from the temporarily occupied territories who cross the state border without an IDP certificate was raised.

They also discussed ways to improve the activities of the IDP Councils, organize community service for internally displaced persons and increase their pay.

The representative of the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine informed about the results of the analysis of the reasons for the removal of IDP status, emphasizing the need to improve the procedures for recording and verifying data.

Following the meeting, further steps were identified to strengthen the interaction between the authorities in supporting internally displaced persons. Work in this area continues to ensure proper protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens affected by the war.
