On May 13, 2026, a meeting of the working group was held under the chairmanship of Oleksandr Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, to develop a draft regional action plan for 2026–2028 to implement the Strategy for Promoting the Rights and Opportunities of Persons Belonging to the Roma National Minority in Ukrainian society for the period up to 2030, under the Donetsk Regional State Administration.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the regional state administration’s structural units, territorial units of central executive bodies, civil society organizations of the Roma national minority, and Dmytro Mykhalov, the Representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Members of the working group discussed issues related to ensuring the rights of members of the Roma community, particularly regarding the simplification of documentation procedures, access to educational and medical services, employment and social protection, improvement of housing and living conditions, and the development of culture and the arts, and also provided recommendations for further work with Roma families.

Following the meeting, a draft regional action plan was agreed upon, and a decision was made to submit it for public discussion on the regional state administration’s website. This is an important step toward ensuring equal rights and opportunities for members of the Roma national minority, especially in the context of the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
