The Donetsk Regional Local History Museum held a meeting as part of the series “About the Museum over Coffee” on the topic “The work of the Memorial Museum of Totalitarian Regimes ”Territory of Terror“ during wartime: the collection, work with the audience, development of new formats.”
The aim of the event was to create a platform for professional discussion about the transformation of cultural institutions in wartime and their role in bringing the community together.
The speaker at the meeting was Olga Gonchar, head of the Memorial Museum of Totalitarian Regimes “Territory of Terror” in Lviv, chair of the Supervisory Board of the Lviv National Academy of Arts, and executive director of the “Veteranka” Movement.
During the event, which brought together cultural managers, museum and library employees, university professors, and representatives of local communities from different regions of Ukraine, participants discussed issues related to the presentation of the history of totalitarian regimes and the theory of terror, the reflection of war events in museum exhibitions, and methods of working with different audiences in order to preserve historical memory and shape social values.
The meeting will contribute to deepening knowledge about the importance of memorial museums in researching and presenting the history of totalitarian regimes and war events.
