On May 1, Oleksandr Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, held a working meeting on the status of veteran policy implementation in the region and cooperation with the Donetsk Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.
The meeting was attended by heads of structural units responsible for veterans’ policy from district state administrations and district military administrations, officials responsible for implementing veterans’ policy in the military administrations of the region’s settlements, as well as representatives of the Donetsk Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.
Participants discussed the organization of systematic support for veterans, their families, the families of fallen Defenders of Ukraine, and the families of servicemen missing in action. Special attention was paid to strengthening coordination between the relevant local agencies.
Artur Nasibyan, Head of the Department for Veterans’ Policy at the Regional State Administration, emphasized the provision of additional social guarantees for this category of individuals at the regional and local levels.
The parties also discussed establishing effective cooperation between the regional state administration, district state administrations, district military administrations, military administrations of settlements, and territorial recruitment and social support centers.
The participants emphasized the importance of providing ongoing support to veterans and military personnel, particularly during their transition to civilian life, as well as the need for timely information sharing to ensure full access to social benefits.
Following the meeting, steps were identified to further strengthen interagency cooperation and improve mechanisms for implementing veteran policy at the local level. It is important to ensure adequate and timely support for veterans, service members, and their families.
