Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Ihor Boiko took part in a meeting chaired by the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.
Representatives of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and regional military administrations working in areas of active combat operations joined the discussion.
The main topic was the problems of ensuring stable mobile communications in regions suffering from constant shelling and destruction of critical infrastructure. Donetsk region is currently provided with mobile communications and mobile Internet by three operators: PJSC “VF Ukraine,” PJSC “Kyivstar,” and LLC “Lifecell.”
The total number of mobile operators' base stations in the territory of Donetsk region controlled by the Ukrainian government has decreased from 419 to 328 units over the past six months, of which 85 base stations are priority stations. This resource provides mobile communications and Internet coverage for the region.
In the event of a power outage, it is the priority base stations that enable the minimum stable operation of mobile communications in the region.
During the meeting, key areas of cooperation between central and local authorities were identified, and joint decisions were developed for rapid response to challenges and restoration of high-quality communications for the population and government agencies.
