On September 11, an online meeting with the families of the defenders who went missing under special circumstances was held within the Regional Working Group of the Coordination Headquarters on the treatment of prisoners of war in Donetsk region.
The meeting was held by Kostyantyn Chernikov, a representative of the Commissioner for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances. The event was joined by representatives of the Department of Veterans' Policy of the Regional State Administration.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of government agencies: The Main Department of the National Police in Donetsk Oblast, the Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in Donetsk Oblast, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the ICRC, the Donetsk Regional Center for the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms, the SSCC and the South-Eastern Interregional Center for Free Legal Aid.
A number of issues were discussed at the meeting, including:
- establishing communication with the command of the military unit;
- evacuation of the bodies of the dead from the combat zone;
- difficulties in repatriating the bodies of fallen Heroes;
- the issue of confirming captivity and the negotiation process for the return of our Defenders;
- the procedure for appointing and conducting molecular genetic examinations;
- the process of identifying the fallen Heroes;
- clarification on the investigation of criminal proceedings on the facts of missing persons.
During the event, relatives had the opportunity to express their requests and receive certain consultations and answers to important questions.
The meeting also provided information on state social guarantees for the families of missing persons under special circumstances and fallen Defenders.
