A comic book contest titled “Caution: Landmines!” is kicking off in Donetsk Oblast

Published 05 October 2026 year, 12:02

From October 12 to 30, 2026, the Donetsk “Yunost” Youth Palace is hosting the regional comic book contest “Caution: Landmines!” in a remote format.

The goal of the initiative is to promote mine safety awareness among young people in the Donetsk region, develop safe behavior skills, and engage students in creatively addressing vital topics.

Students from vocational, pre-higher, and higher education institutions are invited to participate.

The main theme is mine safety and the mandatory action plan: “Don’t approach! Don’t touch! Call 101/102!”

Plot: The story must be complete—from the discovery of a suspicious object or dangerous area to the characters making the right decision and a safe conclusion.

Atmosphere: Sensible and educational, without gory or overly frightening scenes. The main focus is on clear and consistent actions.

Techniques:

1. On paper (hand-drawn): pencils, felt-tip pens, paints, or markers (with a high-quality, clear photo of the work).

2. Digital art: created in any graphics editor.

3. Using artificial intelligence: Image generation via neural networks is permitted; however, the participant must create the plot, text, and frame composition independently.

4. Mixed media: A combination of drawings, photographs, collages, and digital art.

To participate in the contest, you must submit an application (in accordance with the rules) and your contest entry, marked “Contest,” to the Palace’s email address [email protected] by October 22, 2026 (inclusive). A separate application must be submitted for each participant.

From October 26 through 29, 2026, public online voting will be open on the Palace’s official website, https://yunist.org.ua/, and anyone interested may participate.

For detailed contest rules, technical requirements, and recommendations, scan the QR code on the poster.
