Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Ihor Boiko took part in another meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for Evacuation Measures and Effective Response to Mass Population Displacement, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine – Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba.
During the meeting, Ihor Boiko reported on the accommodation of families with children evacuated from Donetsk region.
Since the beginning of 2026, 212 children together with their parents or legal guardians have been centrally and free of charge accommodated in safer regions. Resettlement took place in Kyiv, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Lviv, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Volyn, Rivne, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Zakarpattia, and Chernivtsi regions.
In particular, in Kyiv region families were accommodated in a shelter operated by the charitable foundation Save Ukraine. The placement of evacuated families with children is also carried out through evacuation transit centers in the cities of Lozova and Pavlohrad with the participation of the Coordination Humanitarian Center charitable organization.
To promptly inform the population about opportunities for free accommodation, the regional administration ensures weekly updates for local military administrations and the “White Angel” special unit of the National Police of Ukraine regarding available places, including photos of temporary accommodation facilities for internally displaced persons.
In addition, charitable organizations, particularly the Save Ukraine foundation, are actively involved in evacuating families with children and arranging their further accommodation through a network of their own and partner shelters.
Ihor Boiko also reported that all children have been evacuated from the 375 settlements of the region where mandatory evacuation of families with children had been announced. Currently, mandatory evacuation of children together with their parents, guardians, or other legal representatives continues from two settlements in Kramatorsk district.
Special attention during the meeting was paid to the work of transit centers, which provide initial accommodation for evacuees, humanitarian, psychological, and advisory assistance, as well as coordination of further safe resettlement for families.
Ihor Boiko emphasized that ensuring safe evacuation and proper accommodation for families with children remains one of the key priorities of the regional authorities.
