On May 5, 2026, a practical workshop titled “Education Without Barriers: An Integrated Course on Health, Safety, and Well-being” was held in the Donetsk region, bringing together 147 participants. The event was attended by consultants from professional development centers for educators, as well as teachers from general secondary schools and special schools working in the field of special and inclusive education.
The practical seminar was organized by the Donetsk Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education. Teaching staff from special schools under the Donetsk Regional Council shared their experiences: Kramatorsk Schools No. 18 and 33, Sloviansk School No. 23, and Kostyantynivka School No. 32.
During the event, speakers addressed a number of relevant topics, including:
- the integration of the “Health, Safety, and Well-being” course into a barrier-free educational environment;
- developing students’ health-promoting competencies while taking into account age-specific characteristics and educational needs;
- developing soft skills and adapting educational materials for children with special educational needs;
- creating a barrier-free environment for children with visual, hearing, speech, and intellectual disabilities;
- the use of digital tools and interactive content in online learning;
- methods for maintaining student motivation and establishing emotional connection in a remote learning format;
- practices for preserving and supporting mental health during the educational process.
The participants paid particular attention to modern approaches to teaching an integrated curriculum for children with diverse educational needs and to the exchange of effective teaching practices.
Holding such events helps to enhance the professional competence of educators and foster the development of an inclusive educational environment, ensuring equal access to quality education for every child.
