Today, the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko is in Donetsk region on an official visit. The agenda includes key issues concerning the functioning of the healthcare system as a whole, and in particular the emergency medical care system.
A joint meeting was held to review the main problematic issues. Special attention was paid to salary accrual for medical workers, as well as to preserving the human resources potential of emergency medical and disaster response teams. Our shared task is to eliminate all shortcomings and disputed matters as quickly as possible so that residents of Donetsk region have access to medical services, and doctors and paramedics retain their jobs with достойна pay.
Together with the Minister, the head of the region visited one of the hospitals in Kramatorsk and spoke with doctors. They also met with representatives of emergency medical teams from Novodonetske, where the situation is currently the most acute. They listened to the staff’s position, their remarks, and the challenges the team has faced recently. I am grateful to the Minister for his attention to the problems of Donetsk region and for the contribution he and his team are making to resolve them.
“It is worth noting that following all the meetings, reports, and discussions, we decided to replace the head of the Municipal Non-Commercial Enterprise ‘Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine,’ and there will be other personnel changes as well. Within ten days, we must conduct a comprehensive assessment of all existing problems in the region’s emergency medical care system and find ways to address them. I am keeping this issue under my personal control.
The medics of Donetsk region are true professionals — strong and courageous people. Therefore, they deserve respectful treatment and достойні working conditions.
