During the opening of the additional Therapy and Palliative Care Unit of Toretsk Central City Hospital in Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka, Kyiv region, Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Chief of the Regional Military Administration Vadym Filashkin visited the facility together with Head of the Toretsk Military Administration Vasyl Chynchyk, Director of the Healthcare Department of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Olena Marchenko, representatives of the Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka Village Council, and managers and staff of Toretsk healthcare institutions.

Forced to leave its hometown because of the war, Toretsk Central City Hospital lost part of its material and technical resources but preserved what matters most — its people, its professional team, and its commitment to caring for patients.

The new unit will provide services to both internally displaced persons and local residents. It will offer inpatient therapeutic care, palliative care, medical support for patients with chronic illnesses, as well as care for seriously ill patients and elderly people.

The unit will employ 11 staff members, many of whom are healthcare professionals relocated from Donetsk region who continue serving patients far from their homes.

"We toured the facility, including the therapy and palliative care units. It was also a pleasure to speak with our fellow residents who were forced to leave their homes and are now living here.

I would like to thank the Head of the Unit, Ihor Bashtan, and the entire team for their resilience and professionalism. I also extend my gratitude to the Toretsk and Irpin communities, Kyiv region, our international partners, and everyone who contributed to making this new unit possible.

Healthcare in Donetsk region continues to operate. Even in relocation, even after tremendous losses, and even under the most difficult circumstances, it remains close to the people," Vadym Filashkin emphasized.
