On May 24, a trip was organized to the Shevchenko Honey Farm and the Shevchenko Mound for war veterans, their family members, the families of fallen (deceased) war veterans and Defenders of Ukraine, the families of servicemembers, those missing in action, prisoners of war, as well as servicemembers released from captivity. The event was organized by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs of the Bakhmut District State Administration.
The event was attended by Oleksandr Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration; Inna Starostina, Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration’s Department of Veterans’ Affairs; and Yuriy Ponomarenko, Head of the Bakhmut District State Administration’s Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
The organizers created conditions for the psychological and emotional recovery of veterans, military personnel, and their family members; supported the families of fallen Defenders of Ukraine; and promoted communication, unity, and cultural recreation through joint visits to historical and tourist sites.
During a tour of the apiary, participants learned about the specifics of beekeeping, gained insight into the lives of bees and bee products, peeked inside a hive, and tried their hand at beekeeping.
Guests were also treated to a tasting of various types of honey and craft honey beverages, a candle-making workshop, a delicious lunch, and a relaxing break in an oak grove. Participants enjoyed the natural surroundings and socialized in a friendly atmosphere.
Such events support veterans and their families, aid in emotional recovery, and strengthen social unity.
