277,000 people remain in Donetsk Oblast

The population of Donetsk Oblast is gradually decreasing, with 277,000 people living in the government-controlled area, including 21,046 children.

The progress of the evacuation in Donetsk Oblast was discussed during a traditional briefing at the regional state administration with representatives of the Department for Civil Protection, Mobilization and Defense, the Children's Service, and the Department of Social Protection.

Over the past week, more than 1,130 local residents were evacuated from Donetsk Oblast, said Dmitry Petlin, head of the Department for Civil Protection, Mobilization and Defense's Emergency Service, Communications, Alert and Public Information Division.

There are 26,000 residents in the active combat zone, which includes the territory of 17 communities. There are 179 children living there in the Lyman community, the village of Shcherbynivka in the Toretsk community and the village of Vesele in the Komar community.

In 16 settlements where the forced evacuation of families with children continues, 371 children remain living. There are 6 children in the Lyman community and 20 children in the Shakhovka community. In Dobropolye community, 98 children remain, 68 of them in the town of Bilytske. There are 246 children in the settlements of Druzhkivka community, 233 of whom are in the village of Oleksiyevo-Druzhkivka, where the evacuation of families with children was recently announced.

This was reported by Yulia Ryzhakova, acting head of the service for children.

Over the past week, 191 children have been evacuated from the settlements where the forced evacuation of families with children was announced. Two children were evacuated from the Lyman community, 47 children from Shakhovka, 16 children from Dobropolye, and 126 children from Druzhkovka.

Resettlement of evacuated Donetsk residents in other regions continues.

Everyone in need is being accommodated free of charge, finding opportunities in different regions. This was stated by Dmitry Pozharsky, Head of the Social Services Division of the Department of Social Protection of the Regional State Administration.

"Over the past week, 37 evacuees have been resettled. Ten went to Transcarpathia - three families with 6 children. Eight people with limited mobility will arrive tomorrow to specialized institutions in Khmelnytsky region. Three more people have been settled in Dnipropetrovs'k region, and 5 in Lviv region. Eleven people, including 5 children, were accommodated in Kyiv and Cherkasy regions with the support of Save Ukraine.

The evacuation of people with limited mobility who are leaving with their families and do not need to be accommodated in specialized institutions has intensified. Over the past week, 65 people with limited mobility were evacuated with their families, including 51 from the Shakhovka community.

There are still 2,502 people with limited mobility living in the government-controlled area of Donetsk Oblast who are provided with the social service Home Care. These people are being educated on a daily basis about the importance of evacuating outside the Donetsk region to save their lives.
