Unbreakable Donetsk Region: online lecture on the Day of Dignity and Freedom revealed the history of resistance in the region

Published 21 November 2025 year, 16:34

On November 21, 2025, the Department of Family, Youth, and Mass Events of National Patriotic Education of the Regional State Administration, together with specialists from the State Archives of Donetsk Region and the Center for Unity and National Resistance platform, held a thematic online lecture entitled "Day of Dignity and Freedom. Unbreakable Donetsk Region. The Struggle for Freedom" for young people in the region.

The event was dedicated to honoring the Day of Dignity and Freedom, which symbolizes the indestructibility of the Ukrainian people in defending democratic rights and the European choice that began during the Revolution of Dignity.

The speakers emphasized that the events of 2013–2014 demonstrated the Ukrainian people's readiness to fight for dignity and freedom. The history of resistance in Donetsk Oblast occupied a special place in the lecture. The central part of the lecture was the story of Dmytro Chernyavsky, a 22-year-old activist who became a symbol of unconquered Donetsk.

The lecturers emphasized that despite the occupation, the spirit of resistance in Donetsk Oblast did not disappear. Thousands of residents of the region who were forced to leave continued the struggle in the ranks of the Armed Forces, in volunteer work, and in public initiatives.

“The history of Donetsk's Euromaidan is a story of courage, solidarity, and dignity. The events of 2013–2014 showed that freedom is not given once and for all. It must be defended every day,” the experts noted.

May this day — Dignity and Freedom Day — inspire everyone to be dignified, strong, and united.
