A dance troupe from Donetsk Oblast won competitions in the UK

Published 24 April 2026 year, 14:20

The Star Dance dance club is a group with roots in Donetsk and a long history of resilience. Founded in Donetsk and forced to relocate twice due to the war—first to Kharkiv and later to Kyiv—it has preserved what matters most: team spirit, traditions, and a high level of professionalism.

In April, the club’s dancers represented Ukraine at prestigious international tournaments—the WDC European Championship and the Junior Blackpool Dance Festival in the UK—winning two gold, one silver, and two bronze medals, as well as advancing to the finals in several categories.

Among the standout achievements were the victories and podium finishes of Anna Vyshnevska, Veronika Muravska, Makar Dykyi, and Maria Moskalenko.  Behind these results lies the daily work of teachers and coaches.

A special place in the team’s successes belongs to Oleksandr Haidash, an employee of the Donetsk Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education and the team’s coach. The uniqueness of his work lies in combining professional choreographic training with psychological and educational approaches that unite the team, foster a supportive atmosphere, and help the children grow both as athletes and as individuals.

We congratulate the Star Dance team, its mentors, and students on their new international victories!
