Russia's latest provocation: wreaths placed outside the offices of defense companies in Europe

Published 01 September 2026 year, 13:22

In Lithuania and the Czech Republic, funeral wreaths and photographs of the executives of defense companies that supply weapons to Ukraine, adorned with black ribbons, appeared almost simultaneously outside their offices.

These “installations” were discovered near the building of the Lithuanian company RSI Europe (a manufacturer of drones and remote detonation systems) and the Czech company CSG (a manufacturer of ammunition and military equipment). Portraits of the companies’ top executives were left alongside the wreaths.

This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.

In Lithuania, law enforcement has already detained the first suspect in connection with this incident. Lithuanian authorities and intelligence agencies view this case as a provocation by Russian intelligence services. Law enforcement agencies in both countries are investigating whether there is a connection between the incidents.

This is yet another Russian information and psychological operation aimed at putting pressure on Ukraine’s partners. Since aggressive statements and threats from Moscow’s official representatives are not working, Russia is resorting to personally intimidating European businesses.

However, Europe clearly understands that this is just another link in a whole chain of systematic hybrid threats and acts of sabotage by Russia against Europe’s security. The only response to such actions by Moscow must be continued support for Ukraine and strengthened countermeasures against the Russian Federation’s aggressive moves.
