New opportunities for women amid changes in the labor market

Published 23 June 2025 year, 12:10

Despite the challenges brought about by the war, it has also opened up new opportunities for the development of gender equality in the labor market. By investing in the development of women's potential, companies not only contribute to social change but also secure a competitive advantage for themselves in the long term.

Today, women are not only adapting to new conditions — they are actively creating change. Both the state and the employment service are creating new opportunities for their professional, entrepreneurial, and leadership development.

Education and retraining — a chance to start from scratch

Many Ukrainian women have been forced to leave their homes and jobs. But a change of residence does not necessarily mean a loss of prospects.

The employment service offers free vocational training, including in sought-after professions traditionally dominated by men: tram, trolleybus, and forklift driver, CNC machine operator, mechanic, milling machine operator, renewable energy system installation and maintenance technician, and other professions in demand on the labor market. In addition, the training voucher program allows women to improve their qualifications or learn a new profession at the expense of the state. Employment service specialists help choose a field of study, prepare documents, and find an educational institution.

More information about vouchers is available here: https://www.dcz.gov.ua/profnavch/voucher.

Grants for business — support for new ventures

Women who have a business idea and a desire to work can participate in the state program “Own Business,” which provides microgrants for starting or developing a business — from a coffee shop or sewing workshop to a farm or online service platform.

The employment service supports each program participant by assisting with registration, application processing, and business plan preparation. Even after receiving a grant, you can still seek advice — support continues. Details at: https://www.dcz.gov.ua/people/micro.

Today, more than ever, it is important for women to feel not only their strength but also support. And it is there. Contact the employment service: consultations, selection of relevant vacancies, training, information support, motivational events — all this is available at every employment center and online. We know that new times require new solutions — and we are ready to help women move forward in their careers.
