With the aim of supporting the emotional well-being of children and young people and creating a safe space for communication, creativity and positive emotions in these difficult times for all of us, the Donetsk Regional Museum of Local History held a cultural and educational event called ‘New Year's Workshop of Wonders’ at the MyRazom IDP Support Centre in the Kramatorsk district.
The event introduced participants to the traditions of celebrating winter holidays in Ukraine — from St. Nicholas Day to Christmas and New Year. Children and teenagers learned about the symbols, customs and talismans of the winter cycle, how our ancestors celebrated and how these traditions are preserved today. Special attention was paid to the meaning of festive symbols that convey goodness, warmth, hope and unity.
The practical part of the event included a creative master class on decorating eco-shoppers with acrylic paints. Each participant created their own festive design using images of boots, Christmas trees, gift bags, boxes and other elements of New Year's decor. The finished products became a pleasant souvenir that will preserve fond memories of this creative event.
The ‘New Year's Workshop of Wonders’ gave the children joyful emotions, reminded them of the importance of traditions, and allowed everyone to believe in the little miracle that is born in their own hands. The event contributed to the development of creativity, artistic skills, strengthening ties with Ukrainian culture, and forming positive experiences of interaction in a friendly circle.
A warm atmosphere, sincere smiles, and inspiration — this is what this meeting was like, continuing to bring the festive mood closer and strengthening the unity of our community.
