One of the most important attributes of statehood and a guarantor of Ukraine's security and freedom is its Armed Forces. On December 6, Ukrainians celebrate one of their most important national holidays—Armed Forces Day. Every day, thousands of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers defend the country on the front lines, guarding its borders on land, at sea, and in the air. On the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, we are telling you about the branches of the Ukrainian army.
The support forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are designed to provide operational support to the troops: engineering support, electronic warfare (EW), radiation, chemical, and biological protection (RCBP), topographic and hydrometeorological support.
Engineering troops are responsible for creating the infrastructure necessary for effective combat operations. They ensure the creation of passages for armored vehicles, build fortifications and fortifications, and also engage in camouflaging military units to hide them from the enemy.
CBRN protection troops specialize in countering modern means of enemy detection and guidance, creating conditions for reducing the effectiveness of their actions. They also play an important role in assault operations in the most difficult areas, where flamethrower units are used to destroy fortified enemy positions.
Geospatial support (topographic service) is responsible for providing the Armed Forces of Ukraine with everything necessary to assess and study the terrain during the planning and conduct of combat operations.
The Hydrometeorological Service performs the important function of forecasting weather conditions for combat operations. Its specialists provide accurate forecasts for the use of aviation, artillery, ships and boats, as well as for conducting amphibious operations.
The canine service provides service dogs for guarding military facilities such as airfields, bases, and warehouses.
Each of these components of the Support Forces performs its tasks, which together ensure the reliable functioning and protection of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at all stages of combat operations.
