The Vyacheslav Chornovil Public Library in Boryspil hosted a creative and educational event for internally displaced persons from Donetsk Oblast, organised by the municipal institution ‘Administration of the State Historical and Architectural Reserve in Sviatohirsk.’

The event was dedicated to Ukrainian Christmas traditions, their symbolism, deep meaning and significance in folk culture. Participants learned about ancient Christmas customs, the role of amulets in the lives of Ukrainians, and how these traditions have been passed down from generation to generation. Warm stories and lively communication created an atmosphere of comfort, spiritual unity, and mutual support.

The practical part of the event was special for each participant. During the creative work, those present made Christmas amulets with their own hands, putting the warmth of their hearts, sincere wishes, and faith in a peaceful future into them. For many, it was not only a creative process, but also an important form of emotional support.

Such initiatives play an important role in preserving Ukrainian cultural heritage, supporting internally displaced persons and strengthening national identity. They help to feel unity and bring the light of Christmas even in difficult times for the country.
